This type of thyme is also known as "thyme head", and, according to bibliographical sources, it is a famous nectar source for bees, providing us with the well-known "thyme honey". It is a very common species of Greek flora as it grows in stony and barren soils on hills and mountains, such as Mount Olympus.
In its dried form, this herb is used either in plain beverages or blended with other herbs, while also being a famous Greek cuisine herb. Its biological effects are numerous, since it is traditionally used for the treatment of respiratory disorders (laryngitis, bronchitis, asthma, cough, pertussis), dental diseases, urinary tract infection and indigestion. It is also known for its spasmolytic and digestive action, as it facilitates digestion, stimulates appetite, absorbs fat, and can improve arthritis with regular consumption.
